Who is DJ Dertsman international?

Mbataku Gaston who goes by the stage name DJ Dertsman International is a Cameroonian award-winning Disc Jockey, cultural promoter, content creator, and event manager. He is presently the official DJ and Events Manager at Kang Quintus’ Lions Gate Ltd.

DJ Dertsman International was born in Limbe on 15^th April 1984, to parents with ancestral roots from Manyu in the South West region of Cameroon.

DJ Dertsman did his early primary education in Kumba but later moved to Douala when he completed secondary and high school.

He then proceeded and eventually obtained a Diploma in Information Technology from Ecole Technique in Douala.

DJ Dertsman’s move into entertainment is passion-driven. As a toddler, he had great dancing skills which he used to put smiles on the faces of many.

As he aged the enthusiasm to promote his culture boiled on with his great oratory skills.

He has been in the music business for over 21 years and collaborated with multiple artists in the country, the likes of Ko C, Tzy Panchak Locko, Tenor, Mr. Leo, Salatiel, Mahlox le Viber, etc.

Also, he has equally worked with numerous African stars notably DJ Arafat, Fally Ipupa, Tekno, Davido, Amarulla, Diamond Platnumz, and Flavour Nabania.

Achievements

DJ Dertsman International has received recognition for his instrumental role in the growth of Cameroon music.

In 2018 he received the Airtime awards under the category of Best Promoting DJ.

In 2019 he won the prestigious Urban Jamz Award under the category of Best DJ.

He equally won the Best DJ trophy at the Muzikol Music Awards (MUMA) 2020.

In 2022 DJ Dertsman International won the Best Talent Awards under the category of Best DJ.

DJ Dertsman International’s ambitions and task execution haven’t come without setbacks.

Just like the case with most artists in the country, he faces a problem of little promotion from the diaspora on several projects and campaigns he’s embarked on his journey to foster Cameroon music across national boundaries.

He and other DJs face gross disrespect from artists and fans alike in the industry.

As a result, DJ Dertsman has created 237ultimatevibzdjs, an association for Cameroonian DJs both at home and abroad with the aim to organize and promote club shows with artists, dancers, and comedians.
