Eto’o Headbutts Coq Sportif

Cameroon’s football governing body FECAFOOT has announced the termination of the long-term partnership deal with French sports ‘Le Coq Spotif’.

The information was contained in a press release signed by FECAFOOT president Samual Eto’o on Friday, July 1, 2022.

The decision is one among numerous drastic measures and decisions that have been put in place since Eto’o ascended the FECAFOOT hierarchy.

He noted, “The President of FECAFOOT intends to explore as soon as possible, the avenues of a new collaboration with an equipment manufacturer respectful of its commitments and proud to associate its image with the label of the national football teams of Cameroon”.

However, this decision has not been warmly received by the sports manufacturing firm.

The company was surprised and says this decision is unilateral and brutal. According to the company, it has delivered all its contractual commitments for more than three years. In addition, FECAFOOT validated the jerseys developed by Le Coq Sportif for the World Cup in Qatar.

The French company is now startled by this sudden change of mind. Coq Sportif has implored FECAFOOT and its President, Samuel Eto’o, to engage in ”necessary discussions, in a constructive and respectful spirit in order to have reciprocal commitments” and progressive collaboration.
